LGBTQIA2+ Inclusion in the Workplace

This work­shop, facil­i­tat­ed by Maude Levesque, hold­er of a Bach­e­lor of Arts degree with a dou­ble major in Psy­chol­o­gy and Gen­der Stud­ies from St. Thomas Uni­ver­si­ty, aims to cov­er the basic con­cepts of the LGBTQIA2+ com­mu­ni­ty from a pro­fes­sion­al per­spec­tive. The top­ics cov­ered include learn­ing terms relat­ed to sex­u­al ori­en­ta­tion and gen­der iden­ti­ty, homo­pho­bia and trans­pho­bia in the work­place, com­ing out at work, work­place inclu­sion, and how to be an ally for LGBTQIA2+ colleagues.

By the end of this work­shop par­tic­i­pants will be able to:

  • Iden­ti­fy and define terms relat­ed to sex­u­al ori­en­ta­tion and gen­der iden­ti­ty with­in the LGBTQIA2+ community. 
  • Rec­og­nize instances of homo­pho­bia and trans­pho­bia in the workplace. 
  • Gain access to tools and resources to fur­ther pro­mote LGBTQIA2+ inclu­sion and aware­ness with­in their workplaces. 
  • Learn about con­crete actions that employ­ees and employ­ers can take to cre­ate a more inclu­sive work environment. 
  • And much more!
