Maude’s sol­id aca­d­e­m­ic back­ground enables her to play a key role on the Res­tigouche Fam­i­ly Ser­vices team. She is cur­rent­ly enrolled in the master’s in coun­selling pro­gram at Yorkville Uni­ver­si­ty, where she is build­ing on her skills in the areas of men­tal health and well-being. Spe­cial­iz­ing in gen­der stud­ies, Maude has devel­oped a deep under­stand­ing of the issues fac­ing the LGBTQIA2+ com­mu­ni­ty, as well as the chal­lenges spe­cif­ic to gen­der minori­ties. Her enlight­ened and inclu­sive per­spec­tive makes her an invalu­able asset to our orga­ni­za­tion. Maude takes a pas­sion­ate inter­est in shar­ing her knowl­edge through pro­fes­sion­al devel­op­ment activ­i­ties on a vari­ety of rel­e­vant top­ics. All her pre­sen­ta­tions reflect her empa­thy, pro­fes­sion­al­ism and com­mit­ment to a uni­fied, hope­ful and inclu­sive com­mu­ni­ty. She is a dri­ving force seek­ing to improve the men­tal health and well-being of indi­vid­u­als, fam­i­lies and the community.

LGBTQIA2+ Inclusion in the Workplace

This workshop, facilitated by Maude Levesque, holder of a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and Gender Studies from St. Thomas University, aims to cover the basic concepts of the LGBTQIA2+ community from a professional perspective. The topics covered include learning terms related to sexual orientation and gender identity, homophobia and transphobia in the workplace, coming out at work, workplace inclusion, and how to be an ally for LGBTQIA2+ colleagues.

By the end of this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify and define terms related to sexual orientation and gender identity within the LGBTQIA2+ community.
  • Recognize instances of homophobia and transphobia in the workplace.
  • Gain access to tools and resources to further promote LGBTQIA2+ inclusion and awareness within their workplaces.
  • Learn about concrete actions that employees and employers can take to create a more inclusive work environment.
