"Priority given to business owners or employees. Maximum two seats per company."
As business owners and managers, you are expected to successfully negotiate with clients, suppliers, partners, and employees. Whether you are negotiating a large, multi-year contract, or an annual raise for staff, the outcomes impact your business, and your bottom line.
The commonly held belief is that where there are winners, there must be losers. Given the stakes, you’d not be alone in wanting to learn how to win each negotiation you undertake. This workshop challenges that notion and by participating you will learn effective approaches and techniques to help both parties be successful in negotiations.
Through hands-on exercises and real-life examples, you will learn about:
- Win/Lose approach to negotiations. What is it and how to avoid it?
- Win/Win approach to negotiations. The keys to accomplish this.
- Interest based negotiations and generating options to get to “Yes”
You will leave the one-day workshop with tools, and templates that you can immediately apply to negotiations that you lead or take part in. You will also have access to 4 hours of FREE follow-up one-on-one consulting to help you put your new andimproved negotiation skills to use in your workplace.
Dale Thibodeau founded DJ Thibodeau & Associates in 2006, after a successful career with major companies such as JD Irving Ltd., McCains and Purolator Courier. With JD Irving from 1991-2006, Dale became the VP General Manager for Irving Land Transportation where he had full operational and P&L responsibility for multimodal transportation companies operating in the US and Canada with a combined revenue base of over $170 million.
Dale acted as the lead negotiator for the Province of New Brunswick (PNB) during rail abandonment negotiations with CN, VIA and industrial stakeholders on the Newcastle Subdivision in Northern New Brunswick. He successfully secured a $50 million agreement between PNB, CNR, VIA and the Government of Canada while saving PNB over $27 million. He has also successfully negotiated multimillion-dollar deals with Wal-Mart, Proctor and Gamble, Armstrong World Industries and General Motors.
One of his favourite quotes is by author Chester Karrass, who wrote "In business as in life - you don’t get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate"
